A Wedding in the Rain, What to Do and Prepare
We all want a perfect wedding. So we oversee everything: The guest list, the food, the décor, the location and pretty much every detail.
But there is one thing we don’t have control over. The weather! Many people really want to avoid having a wedding in the rain because they think it will ruin the day.
You can neither dictate nor predict the weather on that so important day of your life. However, you can prepare. With proper preparation, your day will not be ruined.
So what do you do? How do you prepare to beat the weather? Read on.
What’s the Ideal Weather for You?
Not everyone wants to have a wedding in the sun. Some like it better in the rain. So the most important thing is to decide on what you’d wish the weather to be like on your wedding day. After that you can proceed and hope it works out right for you.
If you like it in the sun then:
- Book a Backup Location – Use this in case it rains
Make sure the venue you pick has a backup location. This location should have enough shelter for your guests.
Ask to be shown the location and ensure the décor is what you intend it to be. Then ask about the charges. Will there be extra cost if you use it?
- Order Tents and other Equipment
Work with your wedding planner to ensure everything turns out to be the way you envisioned it.
Ask about the backup location and get every detail of it. If the backup involves ordering tents or other equipment, know how much this is going to cost and make sure it’s a range within your budget.
Also, if you have to order anything (such as a tent), do it in advance – two to three days before the wedding should work well.
Installation should also be done early – the day before.
- Check the Weather
When the day finally comes, consult your wedding planner and check the weather of the day. Together, decide whether you need to use the backup location or not.
Don’t Let the Weather Stress You!
If you want to have a wedding on a dry day, ensure you control what you can. Research on the venue to ensure your wedding is located at a place where rain will not be an inconvenience. Have a backup plan and don’t forget to go over every detail with your wedding planner.
On the day of the wedding, check to ensure the weather is promising and if it’s not make use of Plan B.
An important thing to keep in mind though: Don’t let the weather stress you during your important day. If you have everything else under control then you might not even need to control the weather. Your wedding will go on as planned – in rain or sunshine.
